    I hope that the State Bar will note the passing of Reno Attorney, Rodney Sumpter.  I recall that he was a leader in pro bono work and taking on difficult cases.

    Yes, the obituary was in the Reno Gazette Journal. As well as an artical.

    • A celebration of Life will be hosted at Center for Spiritual Living, Reno on his birthday, July 17, 2026 fro 6pm to 9:30pm

    Of course. Rodney was an extraordinary individual in every way. There will be a memorial service for him on July 17th at the center for spiritual living. I believe it starts at 6:00 p.m. Jorge Faranicci (sp?) Sumpter authored a beautiful tribute to Rodney and I saw it on Facebook. Unfortunately I don't know how to upload it to this forum.

    Yes, I did.  He closed his practice last year.  I have a friend who is close friends with Rodney and I received notice through her.  He was the King of Pro Bono.  It is a big loss to our community.

    He was always in good humor and didn't go to court with a 'take no prisoners' like so many other lawyers do.  I will miss him- Geoffrey Giles
